We have been fortunate to receive a small batch of Emile's roasted ash wood toilet roll holders, made with the same care and precision that is evident throughout his work.

Roasted ash has a rich dark tone that beautifully highlights the grain of the wood. The roasting process, a form of heat treatment, enhances the wood's durability, making it well suited to long-term use. Made with a drop-in dowel mechanism, which works really well and is easy to swap out rolls. These holder are designed to accomodate commonly available 10cm long toilet paper.

Emile Drescher is a furniture maker based in Tāmaki Makaurau, Aotearoa, and a neighbour of ours. It is always a pleasure to visit his workshop and see what he is working on.

His work is materially sensitive, underpinned by meticulous attention to detail. Traditional joinery techniques and hand-carved finishing are recurring elements throughout his furniture and useful domestic objects, bringing a considered, tactile quality to each piece.
